Whimsicality // 01

A weekly dose of all things whimsical.

I am feeling very inspired this week. I got my first MacBook Pro yesterday and I am loving it. It makes blogging that much easier.

Whimsicality is a new weekly blog feature that I am starting. It is and will be made up of all things inspiring an whimsical that I have come across during the week. Let me just say that I absolutely fell in love with Michaela’s outfit (the first picture) when I came saw it on her blog The Drifter and The Gypsy earlier this week. In love.

danseur de ballet

I just discovered Vogue Enfants – so precious. This picture reminded me of how much I want to get back into ballet; I stopped and started it several times when I was younger. I am going to start it at a studio in Gardens with my sister soon – love.

Bonjour ami

I watched Midnight in Paris yesterday. I thought it was a pretty movie in the “past” parts but I really didn’t enjoy the “present’ parts; however; I diverge. The movie just reminded me of how much I love the idea of Paris and 1920′s literature and life.

Sufjan

Sufjan Stevens has been one of my favourite musicians for about the last four years and I have never really mentioned him much on here despite the odd song name. I think it is about time.

I have a lot of memories connected to his music, one memory being of my friend Geri who died of leukemia when I was younger. I associate the song Casimir Pulaski Day with her because Sufjan is singing about someone special who died of “cancer of the bone”.

I just think that he is a great artist. His music is very beautiful and he sings about such obscure topics which is probably one of the reasons I like his music so much.

The music makes me want to take photos or travel or do something big.

“If you want to be happy, be.”

Leo Tolstoy

“As far as modern writing is concerned, it is rarely rewarding to translate it, although it might be easy. Translation is very much like copying paintings.”

Hey there Little Red

At the end of the year I am seriously considering dying my hair bright red (big risk). I’m not sure if I will but it is a big idea that I’m running with. I can’t do it now though because I’m still in high school and I would be told to dye my hair back immediately. So instead of wasting money by dying my hair now… I’m gonna wait till December. My biggest inspiration for red hair is Allison from A Fine Frenzy.

So beautiful. I want my hair like this TODAY.
